Ashleigh Veterinary Centre, located in Firswood, Manchester, stands out as a reputable clinic, particularly recognized for its role as a Veterinary Nurse Training facility and its provision of emergency veterinary services. The clinic boasts an impressive Google Maps rating of 4.5 stars from 1156 reviews, indicating a high level of customer satisfaction with their services.
The majority of reviews are overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the clinic's friendly and professional staff, as well as their thorough approach to animal care. Gwyn Jones praises the vets for their delightful manner and exemplary service, while Janina Cebertowicz appreciates the practical help and advice for her rabbit, even after a lengthy journey. Customers also note the clinic's ability to handle a variety of pets, including exotic animals, which is emphasized in Caroline R's review about her baby budgie receiving gentle and attentive care.
However, one review presents a stark contrast to the overall positive feedback. James Smith recounts a distressing experience with the treatment of his corn snake, which resulted in the snake's death. He describes a lack of empathy and accountability in his interactions with the vet and expresses significant dissatisfaction with the outcome. This review serves as a reminder of the complexities and emotional weight that veterinary care can entail.

I took my cat and dog to Ashleigh's on two separate nights. I cannot praise the two vets that I saw highly enough. Their manner was delightful and their thoroughness in dealing with any questions I had was exemplary. Full marks on your service from me, guys!

I was recommended Ashleigh Vets in Chorlton for my rabbit . It was a 50 mile trip but well worth it. The clinic was busy and lively but not stressful for animal. I had a list of bunny health concerns and was reassured with practical help and advice. Ben wasn't used to such attention and was a little nervous but he is now a very happy bunny.

Our Pet Corn Snake, who was a member of our family for 12 years, had stopped eating for around 4+ weeks. I know this can be common with snakes and a lot of the time, it isn’t anything nefarious. We decided to bring him in for a check up with Rebecca. She noticed as well as with us that his bones were clicking a little bit but there wasn’t anything that she could observe that was cause for too much concern. She suspected it may have been Arthritis, so recommended we try and dose him on Tramadol for 10 days, just in case he was in pain and that was making him not want to eat. She gave another option of running scans and blood tests but said they’d need to inject around the heart, which could be a risk. We weren’t told any risks from using the Tramadol, so both agreed to do that first. We didn’t medicate him on the Wednesday Evening, we waited until Thursday Evening. We did as instructed and gave him the exact measurements of medication. Within seconds he seemed to be very doped and we kept an eye on him. The first night he was breathing a little heavier and was generally not himself at all. He was moving about a bit, so we thought he’d be okay and it was just him getting used to the medication. By the Friday morning, looking at his body he was curled up and taking deep breaths so we thought the Tramadol must have relaxed him, but he was doped up quite strongly. So we gave him the second dose in the evening on Friday, thinking it would be okay. The next morning on Saturday, he was breathing even heavier and opening his mouth to try and breathe, yawning and he still wouldn’t eat but also stopped drinking. I led him to water and his head would just droop in the water and I had to take him out immediately because he would drown from being so out of it. On that same day, we decided maybe it’s best not to give him anymore because we had a feeling he wasn’t having a good time with it. By 9pm, he looked like he had stopped breathing. His whole body was warm, so we took him out quickly to sit in front of a fan to cool him down, his body was limp. He took one last tiny breath and we felt his heart quicken then 15 minutes later it stopped. He’d died in our arms and we don’t know what had happened but it seemed he couldn’t breathe after the Tramadol. We emailed the vet and arranged a phone call today but she wasn’t very empathetic or apologetic apart from the usual standard pleasantries. She wasn’t rude or nasty in any way but seemed more concerned with trying to shift any blame from herself. She said him doing the big breaths was what snakes do when they are dying. This has absolutely destroyed us because I am certain that he would still be with us today if we never gave him that medication. It has completely made me and my partner a mess and I don’t know when we will recover from this, if ever. We had to get an emergency cremation on the Sunday and this doesn’t feel real still. I said to Rebecca on the phone, the least you could do is refund me the amount you charged for the appointment and medication that killed our pet. She said she would come back to me and then I got a very corporate email later basically saying no. I hope anyone who reads this, please considers other Practices before taking their pet to this place. I of course can’t and will not ever be able to prove that their actions led to the death of my pet but it is my strong belief that it was.

We were trying to find a vets for our four guinea pigs. We have had nothing but the best of care from this practice. One of our babies had signs of ovarian cyst we took her in with her sister to have an examination. They found she also had a heart murmur so we exhausted all other options with their advice. She has had a flank spaying which was less invasive and now nearly two weeks into her recovery. She is back to her old self with only complaints from her that she still needs her heart meds. Thank you for your wonderful care Ashleigh veterinary centre. From pachamama

I have a baby budgie with birth defects I rang and they got me in super quick. They were so pleasant on the phone. No problems at all. The place itself was welcoming and staff were friendly and professional. They made me feel at ease. They took real good care of baby Davey and was so gentle with him. I didn’t feel I was taking up too much time with them asking so many questions, and the vet was so lovely. I would recommend to anyone who has pets to go here. They really do love animals and they see exotic pets too. All in all I know if Davey needs to go again they will make him feel at home
